Siouxland Poplar

Siouxland Poplar

Populus deltoides 'Siouxland'

Siouxland Poplar is a male cultivar of Eastern Cottonwood and produces no seeds or cotton. Fast growing, with a roundly symmetrical crown and slightly larger leaves, this is an excellent source of shade. Mature cottonwoods can support huge eagle nests. Songbirds nest or feed in the branches and cavities, while honeybees visit to collect resin that has antimicrobial properties to keep their hives healthy. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. It is a large shade tree that has an intense root system so it is best for bigger yards/open spaces further from buildings.
