McIntosh Apple
McIntosh Apple
Malus 'McIntosh'
This heirloom apple has a storied history beginning with its selection in the early 1800s and it is the parent of many notable apple varieties. McIntosh has a distinctive flavor that is sweet and tart. McIntosh has white flowers that bloom mid-season. This tree is self-fruitful but will do best with another mid-season apple or crabapple tree to pollinate with. For example, Honeycrisp, Freedom, Triumph, Zestar, or SnowSweet. McIntosh produces a midsized red apple that is versatile for cooking or eating fresh. This variety ripens in September.
