European Mountain Ash is a smaller species with white, flat-topped flowers, smooth gray bark, and clusters of bright red, persistent fruits. White, five-petaled flowers in clusters appear in May, have a slightly unpleasant odor, attract butterflies, and the berry-like fruit is a favorite of many bird species.
